PDF Envelope

Privacy

Describes the current app workflow. Features may differ in earlier versions.

Documents stay on your iPhone

PDF Envelope keeps your documents in the app’s private storage on your iPhone, protected by iOS Data Protection. This includes each document’s pages as PDF files, its name, page order, rotation, which pages are included, and each page’s look. Recognized text is cached for search, along with a prepared copy of the PDF for sharing.

From version 1.0.1, for pages from the camera or Photos, the app also keeps the page image as it came into the app so the clean-up can be undone. Temporary copies are removed automatically. iOS backups (iCloud or a computer) may include app data, depending on your device settings.

Nothing leaves the device unless you share it

PDF Envelope has no account, servers or uploads, and uses no analytics, advertising, tracking or AI service. The app makes no network calls of its own.

A PDF leaves the device only when you share it through the iOS share sheet, for example with Mail, Messages or Save to Files. The destination you choose handles it under its own terms. Shared PDFs are named after the document, with the name as the PDF title; no watermark, cover or branding is added.

On-device processing

Apple’s document camera captures and crops the page. Apple Vision recognizes the text on the device; it can misread. From version 1.0.1, PDF Envelope’s clean-up then straightens the page, fills the desk, shadows and folded or torn corners at the edges with the paper’s color, and evens out creases and uneven light. Pages that don’t look like paper, such as ordinary photos or dark pages, are left as they are. Files you import (PDFs and images) are never cleaned.

Permissions

Camera access is used only to scan. Photos and Files use the system pickers, so the app sees only the items you choose.

Deleting

Deleting a page removes it and its kept original image once the few-second Undo has passed. Deleting a document removes all its pages, kept original images, cached text and the prepared share copy. PDFs you already shared are not affected. Deleting the app removes everything it stored.
